MATHEMATICS
Ontario curriculum-based topics. Instruction in number concepts, math computation, and application. Topics will be chosen based on the needs of the students and reinforcement will be provided in the areas of study each student is experiencing in their present school/class. Geometry, Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics and other such topics will be covered and reinforced.
LANGUAGE ARTS
Language arts is divided into reading skills, listening skills, reading comprehension, skills in phonics, grammar, and creative writing. Building reading skills will be approached using the phonetic and language experience approach. Using accommodations for ESL students will be an integral part of the lessons. Topics will be based on the Ontario curriculum. The use of best practices and multi-sensory devices will be applied to help in creating a greater understanding of the content. The different genres of writing will be explored and practiced. The mechanics of grammar will be identified, practiced, and applied in each piece of writing.
GENERAL SCIENCE
General science is the combination three areas of science namely, physics, chemistry, and biology. This program uses best practices to explore these areas based on the Ontario curriculum requirements. The theoretic and practical components of the subject areas will be studied and applied to real life experiences. Students will be taken through the scientific process and in some cases the will be required to make the hypothesis, perform experiments and draw conclusions.
STUDY SKILLS
The implementation of skills designed to help students to improve test scores will be followed and applied.
SKYPE HOMEWORK SUPPORT
Homework support is provided through Skype. Students requiring such assistance must schedule the time twenty-four hours before the Skype lesson. Students must include the topic of the assignment and any guidelines provided for the successful completion of the work.
